4th International Member Care Consultation
- Date: 18 February 2012
- Venue: Singapore
I would like to announce and invite you to the 4th International Member Care Consultation in Singapore on February 17- 20th, 2012.
The MC core leadership team have been discussing and working on topics that will help serve us as an organization. Mission is no longer what is used to be with the recent global crises. With that in mind during out time together, we will be having 2 days of meetings on Trauma, Doing Member Care in Hostile Environments and how we (member care providers as well as leaders) can respond to it from debriefing, to communication, to putting structures and leadership in place during times of trauma and etc. We hope by the end of the two days we will be able to give ideas on how to set up a Quick ResponseTrauma Team in each region (depending on which regional MC people will come).
We will also have a day of teaching on Biblical Peacemaking by the International Peacemakers. This will help us in our conflict and reconciliation process within YWAM.
Cost: US$200 per person

Foundations of Community Development
- Date: 24 September 2011
- Venue: Harpenden, England

Our target, the glory of God: “For the glory of God and the transformation of nations; demonstrating and declaring the Kingdom of God through holistic community development”
Overview
How do communities move from despair to hope? It all begins with relationships. Poverty is more than an absence of income; it involves a whole way of thinking about and relating to the world, other people and even oneself. The Foundations in Community Development School is designed to give an overall view of the issues involved in helping communities (both rural and urban) to grow and be transformed towards God’s intentions. The foundation is a biblical understanding of the root causes of poverty and underdevelopment, and what steps must be taken to enable people to find solutions. In an age of mounting world crisis, where the top-down intervention of government and global organizations has failed to bring about lasting development, Christians have a vital role to play in showing that development is about changing society by reflecting God’s heart. The key is people - transformed hearts, minds, and lives; transformed communities, societies, and nations. The glory of God declared and demonstrated.
