Foundations of Community Development

Our target, the glory of God: “For the glory of God and the transformation of nations; demonstrating and declaring the Kingdom of God through holistic community development”

Overview

How do communities move from despair to hope? It all begins with relationships. Poverty is more than an absence of income; it involves a whole way of thinking about and relating to the world, other people and even oneself. The Foundations in Community Development School is designed to give an overall view of the issues involved in helping communities (both rural and urban) to grow and be transformed towards God’s intentions. The foundation is a biblical understanding of the root causes of poverty and underdevelopment, and what steps must be taken to enable people to find solutions. In an age of mounting world crisis, where the top-down intervention of government and global organizations has failed to bring about lasting development, Christians have a vital role to play in showing that development is about changing society by reflecting God’s heart. The key is people - transformed hearts, minds, and lives; transformed communities, societies, and nations. The glory of God declared and demonstrated.

Freedom Sunday

Freedom Sunday

Celebrate hope!

There are more slaves in our world than at any other time in history.  But we can do something about it.  There is hope.

Last year faith communities in more than thirty nations observed Not for Sale's first Freedom Sunday and/or Freedom Shabbat.   People of faith prayed, chanted, sang, proclaimed, and moved beyond awareness into meaningful action.  In 2011 we are taking it up a notch. . . Several notches in fact!

Host a Freedom Sunday any Sunday of the year, and then participate with the global celebration of freedom on March 13, 2011.  Join with these churches already registered:
